Canaan English Chapel is the English-speaking ministry of Canaan
Presbyterian Church (a predominately Korean-speaking congregation). Canaan has been serving the Chicago Metropolitan area
and different areas of the world for over 30 years. Originally started with a group of families in 1976 in Niles , Illinois
, Canaan grew to be one of the largest and most influential Korean-American churches in North America . Presently, CEC meets
on the south campus of Canaan Presbyterian Church in Glenview , Illinois . The “ Vision Center ,” a newly built
complex constructed for CEC and CYC, is scheduled to be open in early 2007.
“Raising a Generation of Worshippers to Impact the World for Christ…” Our goal is to raise up men and women who are passionate for God and compassionate for people,
in order to make a difference in our families, church, community, and the world. Every generation has its responsibility to
build God's Kingdom in the world. We want to be sure to make our contribution.
Our Vision Model...
The diagram shown below
is kind of like the “spiritual roadmap” for our church. Anyone who comes in for the first time will be able to
place themselves somewhere on this map. We like to think of it as a baseball diamond, with a goal to get everyone into the
game and around the bases. Too many people in churches today are mere “spectators,” watching everyone else playing
the game. Our goal at Canaan is to make sure that we move the spectators from out of the bleachers and into the game of life.
